About MCCM

Formerly known as ThreadCORE

The Multi-Cultural Christian Coalition of McKinney is a faith-rooted coalition of local ministry and community influencers that combines the visions of Threaded and Trinity CORE for the purpose of pursuing collaborative racial unity, equity initiatives in the city of McKinney

Our Story

The Multicultural Christian Coalition of McKinney (MCCM) began in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, when Trinity Presbyterian launched the Committee on Racial Equity (CORE). Out of those first conversations, local pastors began meeting in 2022 to build relationships across racial and denominational lines. Together, their churches hosted citywide gatherings like Christmas caroling at the Old Courthouse and McKinney United Day in the Park.

In 2023, CORE received a grant to host community conversations in East McKinney. These efforts identified key concerns—Youth, Communication, Transportation, and Empowerment—and culminated in a Summit at Collin College with over 120 people in attendance.

To make the work sustainable, CORE partnered with Threaded McKinney to form MCCM. Today, MCCM unites churches and community stakeholders to break down barriers, build trust, and pursue racial equity together. Our vision is a thriving McKinney where all people have the opportunity to reach their God-given potential.

Opportunity Statement for MCCM

The city of McKinney is growing in diversity, yet the churches within the city remain largely segregated along cultural and racial lines. When they do come together, it is often for surface-level activities that fail to address the deep, systemic racial issues affecting marginalized communities. There is a pervasive attitude among some church members who refuse to engage with people from other cultures, often due to deeply rooted prejudices and misconceptions. This lack of cross-cultural collaboration not only misrepresents the diverse image of God that the Church is meant to reflect but also prevents the Body of Christ in McKinney from fully experiencing the power of unity.

The community, too, misses out on the collective impact that could be achieved through unified, coordinated efforts from the multicultural church. Instead, McKinney is often left to experience fragmented efforts from a few churches, diminishing the potential for transformation. The need for deeper engagement and a collective voice is more urgent than ever, as McKinney and the surrounding area have seen a rise in racial tensions and hate-based incidents, including vandalism, racial slurs, and violent acts connected to white supremacy.

Transformation Goal

MCCM aims to unite the multicultural church in McKinney, ignite its collective purpose, and inspire collaboration with community organizations already working to alleviate these obstacles. By coming together, the Church can reflect the fullness of God's image, address systemic inequalities, and create a flourishing, equitable environment where everyone has the opportunity to reach their God-given potential. The time has come for the church in McKinney to break down walls, build trust and work together for lasting transformation in the community.

Strategy: RIPE

  • Execute: Implement the Plans in the city and Evaluate their effectiveness with the community.
